One Other Thing

How could I forget to give my Chiefs the props!!!!    So we are totally in the playoffs!!!!  I love what Herm Edwards said in a Press Conference the other day.  "There were four teams that had to win, all four teams played at home.  We won, they lost.  Lets not get this mixed up!  We didn't sneak in...We won and they lost!!"  I totally gained a new respect for Herm when he made those comments.  Do I appricated the Stealers and The 49's, you bet I do!  But Herm's right, "We WON and they LOST!"  That's all there is too it!

All I have to say is watch out Colts LJ is commin for ya!!!  Bring on the 32nd ranked rushing defense!

GO CHIEFS!!!!!

A New Year

Back to work it is...after more than a week off, Mark and I are back to work.  I have to say the return wasn't as bad as I had thought actually Mark and I had pretty eventful days yesturday when it came to work.

I took the darring step out to talk to my boss about where my job was going and if there was a possibility of a pay increase.  A friend of mine and me have talked about why college does not prepare you for tough conversations about things like this.  But all went well and they seem please with how things are working out.  So it felt good to step up and fight for myself.

Mark had an exciting day as well.  There has been some drama going on in his office and we've been praying for the situation to turn out in Marks favor and after yesturday it is looking like Mark's clientel will increase, which is a very good thing.  Mark started on his own officially as of yesturday, scary thing, but I think he's really excited about stepping out and being able to visit is own clients.

We had a good time New Years Eve.  A friend of mine from college, Nicole and her husband, came down for the weekend.  After they graduated they moved back to Iowa where they are originally from.  It was really good to see her and hang out.  We went out to eat and then went down town.  I couldn't figure out why of all nights that we were walking around it had to be the coldest.  All last week the weather was really nice and the one night every one goes out it turns fridged.  We ended up at the Piano Bar to ring in the new year.  Both of us got to celebrate our first New Year with a husband.  We had a good time and I'm really glad they got to come down.

So a friend of mine is writing a book...I won't say who incase this person doesn't want it out yet...but I'm super excited for them.  I've always thought that they should write in some form or fashion b/c I ALWAYS love to hear what they have to say.   They let me read the first chapter of the book and I would definalty buy it!  Anyways,  I really hope that things work out for them b/c they TOTALLY deserve it!

That's about all I have for now.  Hope everyone's holiday's were great!

True Meaning of Christmas

Dear loved ones,

As you well know, we are getting closer to my birthday. Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that this year the celebration will be repeated. During this time there are many people shopping for gifts, there are many radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of the world everyone is talking that my birthday is getting closer and closer.

It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people think of me. As you know, the celebration of my birthday began many years ago. At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all that I did for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason for the celebration. Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun, but they don't know the meaning of the celebration.

I remember that last year there was a great feast in my honor. The dinner table was full of delicious foods, pastries, fruits, assorted nuts and chocolates. The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many  beautifully wrapped gifts... But, do you want to know something? I wasn't invited. I was the guest of honor and they didn't remember to send me an invitation. The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside, they closed the door in my face .... and I wanted to be with them and share their table.

In truth, that didn't surprise me because in the last few years all close their doors to me. Since I wasn't invited, I decided to enter the party without making any noise. I went in and stood in a corner. They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling jokes and laughing at everything. They were having a grand time. To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a long white beard entered the room yelling Ho-Ho-Ho! He seemed drunk. He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying: "Santa Claus, Santa Claus" .. as if the party were in his honor!

At 12 Midnight all the people began to hug each other; I extended my arms waiting for someone to hug me and ... do you know .. no one hugged me. Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one with  great expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if, maybe, there was one for me.

What would you feel if on your birthday everybody shared gifts and you did not get one? I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and quietly left.

Every year it gets worse. People only remember to eat and drink, the gifts, the parties and nobody remembers me. I would like this Christmas that you allow me to enter into your life. I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years ago I came to this world to give my life for you, on the cross, to save you. Today, I only want that you believe this with all your heart.

I want to share something with you. As many didn't invite me to their party, I will have my own celebration, a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined, a spectacular party.

I'm still making the final arrangements.

Today I am sending out many invitations and there is an invitation for you. I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a reservation for you and write your name with golden letters in my great guest book. Only those on the guest list will be invited to the party. Those who don't answer the invite, will be left outside.

Be prepared because when all is ready you will be part of my great party.

See you soon.
I Love you!
Jesus

To have the right priorities a man's focus must not be on the head, but on the heart; not on himself, but on God; not on time but on eternity. --Roy Lessin

I got this email from my uncle and I thought it was fitting to post the week before Christmas.  Mark and I have been observing Advent this holiday season and it's amazing to see how sitting down every night, lighting the Advent candles, and reflecting on everything this season is about can really change how you veiw the true miracle of Jesus' birth.  This Christmas, don't forget to invite Jesus to your family gathering, don't forget to bless him with present.  Remember he is with us always.

1st Day of Decmeber

So I think it's pretty fittting that we wake up on the 1st day of December to a white snow covered ground!  Being that we had such a non-exciting winter last year, it's only fitting that we start off December with a little snow and ice!

A pretty funny thing happened around Springfield yesturday, some may not say it was funny but I think it was.  We started off with quite a bit of rain and by noon it was turning to sleet.  I was listing to the raido station just to stay up with what was going on and they had been announcing all of the closing throughout the morning.  Springfield Public Schools were in session, but in the morning hours we had been having trouble with power outages and the news kept reporting that there were several schools with no power but you didn't hear anything about them letting the schools out.  FINALLY around 11:30 they did an imediate dismissal of the 5 or 6 schools who had lost power and they were reporting that they were only going to let students who had to ride busses out 30 mins. early.  I left work at 12:30 and the roads were not pretty!  You kept hearing about all of these colleges and buisness closing down early but there was nothing about Springfield Public Schools.  When I got home I told Mark that it was ludicris that they were not letting the schools out.  Last night on the evening news they reported about the way the superintendent handled the weather.  Needless to say there were some parents that were pissed.  I have to say that if I had a student in a school that had no power in a winter storm and they weren't letting my kid out, I wouldn't be very happy.  I mean what can the kids do with no power??  They interviewed the Superintendent and he was saying, "Well I'm from Colorado and this is nothing."  Well no kidding!  But this isn't Colorado, it's MISSOURI!  He tried covering his butt by going ahead and cancelling school for today.

I know that pretty much everyone in the state got hit so I hope everyone stays safe and warm!  Enjoy the winter weather!
